A miniature silver cup by West & Son, Dublin, inscribed to Cadet Corporal R.H. Wheeler, also inscribed ‘DEFENCE OF T.C.D. SINN FEIN REBELLION EASTER 1916. Rare. 6 by 3in. (15.2 by 7.6cm) Condition: Very fine. Dublin University (Trinity College Officers) Training Corps sealed off the College and the surrounding streets. The businesses in College Green, Dame Street, Grafton Street and George’s Street area (including Whyte’s!) were especially grateful to them for protecting their businesses from the rebels and they paid for the award of commemorative silver cups to members of the OTC.
