106 History 273 1968. Civil Rights march Coalisland to Dungannon. A loudhailer used by one of the stewards. A Pye Transhailer, used on this historic march, a unique artefact from the first protest march organised by the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association. Provenance: Purchased by the present owner from the NICRA member who used it on the march. Condition: Very good. In August 1968, NICRA organised the north’s first civil rights march, from Coalisland to Dungannon. The police sealed off Dungannon town centre. A violent confrontation made news headlines north and south. A security camera from DWing, H-Block 7. A Panasonic Video Monitor, model WV 5340/B. The screen has an image of the H Block corridor burnished into it due to its having been powered on 24/7 over many years. A photograph of the screen is included and illustrated here. Extremely rare. Provenance: Acquired by the present owner from a contractor who worked on the demolition of the prison. Condition: Very good, with electric plug.
