117 History THE ECLECTIC COLLECTOR · FRIDAY 7 JUNE 2024 302 Circa 1945 Omega steel wristwatch, British military issue, issued in 1970 to a British soldier in Northern Ireland. With seconds dial, stamped to reverse: w.w.w.Y13250 [arrow] 10677449. As used by a soldier in Northern Ireland. These watches were made for British forces during WorldWar II and issued up to the 1970s. 12 different watchmakers supplied them, hence the collectors’ nickname ‘Dirty Dozen’ which is derived from a 1960s movie. Provenance: A retired member of the Royal Military Police, who served in Northern Ireland in the 1970s. A few light scratches to case, numbers faded, with a Bella Sport velcro strap.
