26 History 50 1843-1846 - Applications for firearms licences. Rare weapon’s identification number included on twenty five applications for licences to keep weapons in County Carlow. Name and address and signature of applicant with description of weapons - guns, pistols, blunderbuss, carbines, Bayonets, Sword, detailing where the weapons are stored. One such application from Philip Deighton states “Gun and Bayonet both belonging to the Disembodied Yeomanry of the town of Carlow”. Among those named are John McNorgan, William Saul, George Beaver, Hugh Blackney, Hugh Massey, Jarriet Irwan M.D. and the Rev. Arthur St George. 10 by 8in.
