Fitzgerald No. 1233, with a couple of watercolours including Kevin Barry memorial and Eamon de Valera portrait, over 100 entries. Condition: Very good. Estimate €600-€800 (approx £510-£680) Click here for more images and to bid on this lot 175 176 1921 Bonn na Dála silver medal. Believed to have been issued for services rendered to Dáil Éireann 1919-1921. 1922 medals are also known. Less than 10 of either are recorded, making them 100 times rarer than the 1916 Rising Service Medal. We know one was awarded to a Post Office telephone engineer who may have been monitoring telephone calls of the army and police. This might indicate that the medals were warded for secret services performed by civilians; hence the lack of records. The medals were made by Edmund Johnson and carry his hallmark. Condition: Very fine. Estimate €600-€800 (approx £510-£680) Click here for more images and to bid on this lot 176 177 1921 (13 February) Republican Court submission and judgement. Relates to an attack by armed men on a rate collector - Mr Quinn - conducting an auction in Breagh near Gort, Co. Galway. Quinn says the men called him a ‘Black and Tan’ and shot him twice with pellets; he appeals to the court to state his innocence. The Republican Court judge in an appended note condemns the actions of the gunmen and instructs Republican Clubs to refer any cases to headquarters before taking action against anyone. Interesting content finishing with ‘tear up all this - my handwriting is too well known’, but it survived! 9 pages manuscript. 7.26 by 5in. (18.4 by 12.7cm) Provenance: Archive of Charles Murphy (1880-1958, TD 1923-1927). Condition: Very good, slight faults. Estimate €150-€200 (approx £130-£170) Click here for more images and to bid on this lot 177
