98 History 252 1939-1946 Emergency Service Medals - Maritime Inscription and Merchant Marine issues. Sluag Muirí with one bar. With a programme of songs for a Maritime Inscription Dinner in 1940, A group photograph of Irish naval personnel by H.W. Harrington, Glenageary, a photograph of a couple inscribed ‘To Babs with love from “K”’. Thought to relate to Robert Geldof (1914-2010), father of Bob Geldof. Provenance: From a house clearance in Dun Laoghaire; Private collection. Condition: Medals fine, Merchant Marine lacking ribbon, programme soiled and folds, photographs fine. The Maritime Inscription which was a volunteer Naval Reserve Force to be based in the main Sea and Fishing Ports with responsibility for Port Control and Ship Examination.
