(80 by 90.2cm) Provenance: Whyte’s, 10 October 2011, lot 185; Private collection Michael McGuinness studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London from 1977 to 1979 before lecturing at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and later at the University of Ulster. In the late 1980s he returned to London to teach but visited Ireland frequently to paint. His work is figurative and landscape based. Limavady and Portstewart are frequent backdrops in his oeuvre but his work is also inspired by his experience of the continent, in particular Italy, France and Holland. Solo exhibitions have included One Oxford Street Gallery, Belfast; Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart and Gallery 47, London. His work has also been shown at the Whitechapel Open Exhibition and the William Morris Gallery, London. Aghanloo is a townland in Limavady, Co. Derry. €1,000-€1,500 (£830-£1,250 approx.)
