(55.9 by 45.7cm) Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist; Private collection; Thence by descent This appears to be a study for the artist’s work ‘August, 1939’ which was exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, in 1940. Harold Harvey was an artist of the Newlyn School who painted scenes of working-class Cornish fishermen, farmers and miners and Cornish landscapes. He was born in Penzance and trained at the Penzance School of Arts under Norman Garstin and at the Académie Julian in Paris (1894–1896). €8,000-€12,000 (£6,720-£10,080 approx.)
