184 318 1895-1931 letters fromW.B. Yeats (5) and John Butler Yeats to Arthur Pollexfen Jackson Circa 1918 W,B. Yeats series of letters to ‘My Dear Jackson’ with mention of his wife, George, and her ‘notes of a mystic kind’, astrology, his grandfather’s watch which he wishes to buy from Jackson, George Russell pictures, Lady Gregory etc. all in Yeats’ hand on Coole Park notepaper (4 letters) and a signed typed letter, 19 May 1931 with much interesting content relating to him selling shares in the Sligo Steam Navigation Company in order to subsidise his sisters and The Cuala Press which were in dire straits. John Butler Yeats letter, 3 July 1895 also menions ‘dire straits’ is looking for a loan of £30 from his cousin Arthur Pollexfen Jackson, and details his work as an artist and his prospects for illustrating books. Condition: Very good to fine. Arthur Jackson (1853-1938) settled in Sligo after his marriage to Alice Pollexfen, first cousin of Jack Yeats. In 1892 he took over W. & G.T. Pollexfen Ltd., flour millers and made it very successful. He was also a dircector od several companies including the Sligo Steam Navigational Company, The Sligo Gas Company and Great Southern Railways Company.
