64 112 1914-1918WorldWar I Memorial Plaque to an Irish member of the Voluntary Aid Detachment. Named ADA ELIZABETH YOUNG. A rare issue to an Irish nurse. Accompanied by the original card case, envelope and inscribed scroll, a photograph of Ada, images of her grave and memorial, biographical details, etc. Condition: Extremely fine. Provenance: Issued to Mrs Young, Rialto, Dublin; Thence by descent to the present owner. Ada Elizabeth Young BRCS VAD (1885-1918) was the daughter of Sergeant Major Young of the 5th Dragoon Guards, 16 Adelaide Terrace, Brookfield, Dublin. She joined the VAD on 29 September 1917. She died on 15 July 1918, of pneumonia and cardiac failure following influenza, age 33, at Clipstone Army Training Camp Hospital. She is buried in St. Alban’s Churchyard, Forest Town, Nottinghamshire.
