94 155 1916 (1 May) poster: Order by General Maxwell thanking troops for putting down the Rising “I desire to thank the troops who have been engaged in the City of Dublin for their splendid behaviour”. He especially mentions the 6th Reserve Cavalry which “was attacked in Charles Street and after a splendid defence for 3 days ....delivered the ammunition”. Very rare document. 12.50 by 8in. (2) Includes other military appointments in the wake of the Easter Rising. Also 16 May ‘ROUTINE ORDERS’ issued by Major-General Sandbach with details of senior officer appointments, including some on 29 April 1916 at the time of the surrender and transfers of some back to the front in France or Belgium.
