118 181 1916 Rising and 1917-1921War of Independence Comrac medals to Colonel Seán Quinn with related documents and ephemera Awarded posthumously and engraved ‘821/SEAN QUINN’. includes In Memoriam card, news cuttings, An t-Óglác with illustrated biography, 1916 and 1922 diaries with sparse entries including 24 April 1916 ‘Station 12 oc’ [Quinn served at Westland Row Railway Station] and brief notes on his journey as a prisoner to Wakefield Jail and drawings and wriitings while imprisoned there, his notice of detention, later documents relating to his service in the Free State Army including 1923 appointment as Major General, Irish Olympic Team tag and ID card for Paris Games 1924, where he accompanied the Irish boxing team and during which he died, a large number of letters of sympathy to his mother, etc. A very important collection. Condition: Medals extremely fine, archive generally very good, some faults. Provenance: By descent to the present owner.
