(30.5 by 50.8cm) Condition: Some wrinkling, attractively framed and glazed, Papal bull of Pope Clement XII (Lorenzo Corsini). Pope from 1730. Born into a well known Florentine family. Pope Clement worked as a lawyer before joining the church, rising to become a Cardinal in 1706. After becoming Pope in 1730 he used his experience as Papal Treasurer to restore the Papal finances. He also began extensive building programs for which he is largely remembered today. Some earlier including an unrelated bill of 1687, also a manuscript document signed by the Archbishop of Armagh with part seal, some interesting bills giving information on the costs of a gentleman’s living in Dublin in the mid 18th century.
