Estimate €500-€700 (approx £430-£610) Click here for more images and to bid on this lot 518 519 Shane MacGowan of The Pogues mosaic by Robert Lally Hand-cut ceramic mosaic on board, after: New Musical Express front cover, 1985, ‘NME BOTTOMS UP’ by Robert Lally (Rialto Ceramix). Commissioned by Shane MacGowan as a Christmas gift for his manager Joey Cashman. Robert Lally, well-known ceramic and mosaic artist was a friend of MacGowan. Before delivery, the piece was seen by Sinéad O’Connor, who at that time had a well-documented public estrangement from MacGowan. In a gesture of reconciliation, Joe Cashman and Shane MacGowan gifted the mosaic to Sinéad O’Connor as a peace offering. It was subsequently held in Sinéad O’Connor’s personal collection. The proceeds from the sale of this work will go to The Animal Trust Fund, thanks to its donation in memory of Shane MacGowan and Sinéad O’Connor. 30 by 21.50in. (76.2 by 54.6cm) Condition: Excellent. The work is signed and inscribed on the reverse by Robert Lally, including a personal dedication - ‘Christmas (2007), a reference to “Peace Between Sinéad and All” Artist’s name and contact number. The inscription strongly supports the reconciliation narrative and personal nature of the work. Proceeds from the sale of this work will go to The Animal Trust Fund.
