The letter sheet has one of two printed lists of subscribers to an unknown purpose, inscribed ‘Barn Cottages’, addressed to John Nesbitt, High Sheriff, Co. Cavan, at Lismore House, Crossdoney, redirected to London and then Hastings, with several postmarks including PAID AT CROSSDONEY. 9.50 by 7.50in. (24.1 by 19.1cm) Condition: Penny Black is 3 margin, overall the lettersheet is folded, very good. The ‘Penny Black’ was the world’s first adhesive postage stamp, issued in London and Dublin on 6 May 1840.
