Condition: Fine Corcoran was an Irish-American general in the Union Army during the American Civil War and a close confidant of President Abraham Lincoln. As its colonel, he led the 69th New York Regiment to Washington, D.C., and was one of the first to serve in the defence of Washington by building Fort Corcoran. He then led the 69th into action at the First Battle of Bull Run. American military officer’s sword American military officer’s sword in its original scabbard. Decorative gilt brass hilt with American eagles and trophies. The single edged 30 inch blade is stamped Francis Bannerman and Sons New York. Bannerman’s was a famous New York Military outfitters who began trading in 1865.
