Rare early printed work, apparently once owned by William Pitt, (1759-1806) Prime Minister of the UK. 5.50 by 6.25in. (14 by 15.9cm) Condition: Covers loose, first 20 pages distressed, bumped corners, most scenes are very good and legible. A good reference copy. Provenance: According to old inscription: Leigh Sotheby, William Pitt’s Estate Sale, 21 January 1808 (Samuel Leigh Sotheby (1805-1861); Private collections since then. The Metamorphoses by Ovid. is considered his magnum opus.
