Condition: Very good, deactivated with Birmingham Gun Barrel Proof House EU certificate. Provenance: The “Mauser bolt action rifle, Spandau 1890” refers to the Gewehr 88 (G88), a significant German service rifle adopted in 1888, with examples made by the Spandau Arsenal in 1890, featuring a distinctive bolt action, five-round magazine, and initially using the M/88 cartridge before transitioning to the 7.92×57mm Mauser. It’s a key early smokeless powder rifle, known for its unique barrel jacket and role in German military history, with “Spandau 1890” identifying its manufacturer and year of production, though it’s a Commission rifle, not a pure Mauser design.
