(27.9 by 21cm) Frame Size: 17.5 by 15in. (44.5 by 38.1cm) Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist; Private collection; Thence by descent Flora Mitchell was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1890. Her family moved to Ireland, where they had links, during the early 1890s. She studied at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art (now the National College of Art and Design). She was a continuous exhibitor at the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin, from 1957 to 1970. Mitchell’s oeuvre was characterized by numerous pen sketches and drawings of Dublin and its streetscapes. Her work represents a significant historical record of Dublin’s architecture and urban heritage.
