(25.4 by 33cm) Frame Size: 13 by 19.75in. (33 by 50.2cm) Dr. Adolf Melchior was a medical doctor, author, travel journalist and artist, based in Haarlem in the Netherlands. He was one of the founding members of The Pincet en Penseel Society for physicians who practice the visual arts which survives to this day. He published a number of books about his travels to the South Pole, East Africa, South America and Ireland. His work titled Ireland is Different was published in 1958 in Haarlem. Collections of his work and that of his daughter Maria are held at the International Institute for Social History in Amsterdam and The North Holland Archives, Haarlem.
