American Football: Chicago Bears 1997 Croke Park team signed
football
An excellent boxed Wilson Official NFL Football signed by the members
of the Chicago Bears team which played in the American Bowl pre-
season match at Croke Park in 1997 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A
total of 33 signatures including Ricky Proehl, Todd Sauerbrun, Darnell
Autry, Steve Stenstrom etc. An excellent piece of American and Irish
sporting memorabilia.

American Football: Chicago Bears 1997 Croke Park No. 22 Jersey
Official Chicago Bears NFL Nike practice jersey from the Dublin
Pittsburgh Steelers Croke Park match. Number 22 on the roster for the
1997 season was Running Back, Ronnie Harmon who later played in
Super Bowl XXIX for the San Diego Chargers.

Golf. Portrait of a Founder Member of Lahinch Golf Club, painting by
1896 Richard Staunton Cahill (1826-1902)

Born in Co. Clare, the eldest child of Charles Staunton Cahill JP, Richard
S. Cahill entered the Royal Hibernian Academy’s school in 1850. The next
year he began exhibiting at the RHA, showing a further two dozen works
there in the following years, the last in 1900. Strickland records he
moved to London in 1853, but records of the societies with which he
exhibited, including the RA and the RBA, reveal a peripatetic existence,
teaching for a period at Nottingham School of Art and changing studios
frequently. The titles of his paintings also reveal visits home to his family
in Clare and Galway, eg.

watercolour would appear to be a study
On the Golf Links at Lahinch
(IRHA 1896, now in their collection). He died 7 July 1904.

Golf: 1934 Donabate Golf Club Ladies Branch Captain’s Prize silver
cup
An extremely attractive silver cup in the form of a miniature ‘Ardagh
Chalice’ engraved “Donabate Golf Club, Ladies Branch Captain’s Prize,
1934” with maker’s mark of Alwright & Marshall and Dublin hallmarks
(184g. approx.). Also with a 1975 silver medallion produced to
commemorate the victory of L’Escargot at the Aintree Grand National.
Hallmarked Birmingham 1975 and in case of issue. (64g approx.) and
Bord Fáilte Éireann silver medallion hallmarked Dublin (170g approx.) (3
items) 4 x 6in. (10.16 x 15.24cm)

Born in Dublin in 1979, Cummins is a self-taught artist, also an Architect
and a graduate of Bolton Street College of Technology. He has exhibited
in the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin in 1999, 2003, 2011 and 2012.
Among awards he has received was the Fitzwilliam Award for
Exceptional Talent in the Visual Arts in 1997.

c. 1760: Early Horse Racing mezzotint of Sir Edward O’Brien’s horse
Miss Doe
Framed mezzotint by the Dublin engraver Richard Houston titled “Miss
Doe a mare of Sir Edward O’Brien Bart. she beat the Duke of Bolton’s
famous horse Sterling”. Dromoland Castle is the ancient seat of the
O’Brien family. An interesting early piece of Irish horse racing ephemera.

a large quantity relating to the Epsom Derby
Two large photograph albums. The first containing a large collection of
photographs (some signed by winning jockeys), postcards, stevengraphs
etc. relating to the Epsom Derby from the 1890s to 2002. The second
containing a mixed selection of National Hunt and Flat racing
photographs with horses including Shergar, West Tip, Dawn Run, Red
Rum, Desert Orchid and signatures including Gordon Richards, Willie
Carson, Scobie Breasley, Pat Eddery and Steve Cauthen. An impressive
collection.

circa 1920: Willie Burke hunting scene photographs of Indian colonial
life
A collection of four monochrome photographs of varying sizes taken by
the photographer Willie Burke showing the Ooty Hounds hunting group
at Ootacamund in western India. Taken during the later stage of Burke’s
career as a photographer. Born in Peshawar in 1861 Willie was the son of
John Burke an Irish photographer, he travelled extensively in India
recording many long since vanished aspects of colonial life on the
subcontinent. (4 items)

A large silver Presentation Bowl or Trophy chased with ribbon bows,
flowers, fruit and scrolls on a circular moulded stem foot. Inscribed “Irish
Greyhound Derby Harold’s Cross, Dublin 1943” A Victorian silver piece
hallmarked London 1879, by Martin Hall & Co. (Sheffield) and used for
