manager John Sutton, under the King Farouk imprint. They took out a bank

loan of £5000 and printed 3000 copies. Sutton later commented “we lost

everything. We sold only about 800 copies”.

Tony Gray (1922-2004) grew up in Sandymount and was educated at St Matthew’s

School in Ringsend and St Andrew’s College, Booterstown. He worked in The Irish

Times as a junior leader writer under the legendary

editor,

R.M. Smyllie. He wrote 20

books and 150 scripts for documentaries and training films. He moved to Britain in

1959 where he had numerous positions in the media and continued to write on Irish

themes.
