A Siebe Gorman twelve-bolt copper and brass diving helmet.

A 12-bolt diving helmet by Siebe Gorman & Co, London:, the copper bonnet with oval side windows and guards,

the circular front window with raised rim, lashing eyes above, spitcock to the lower right, outlet valve with cog,

rear air intake and comms, the copper corselet with makers plaque, front and rear hanging posts and brass rails

stamped with bolt numbers.

Provenance: Given as a retirement gift to Joseph Murphy who had used it in his role as as the Dublin Port and Docks

diver from the early 1960s to 1969.

Joseph Murphy is remembered by a plaque on the preserved diving bell displayed on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay.
