postreme editione facta collatione cum Mss. Vat. alijsq antiquis
codicibus emendatae, & in duos tomos distributae …
Romae:
apud Ludovicum Grignanium,
1628
With fine engraved title-pages and engraved portrait and pages
(52), 210, 620: (2), 553, (146) and leaf of errata and register, 2
vols, folio, contemporary calf, gilt spines: some marginal
worming (not touching text) and a little wear at the headbands,
but still a strongly bound and very good copy
An excellent edition, considered by Brunet (I. 1259) as “la plus
complète”. Saint Birgitta, also known as Santa Brigida or St. Bridgid of
Sweden and Birgitta of Vadstena, born Birgitta Birgersdottir (1303–
73), mystic and saint, founder of the Bridgettine Order. Uniquely
among saints of the second millennium, she was also the mother of a
saint - Saint Catherine of Vadstena of Sweden. Her revelations were
influential during the Middle Ages.

The first Irish and first 8vo edition of this classic work. Two sections in

nice copy of a rather uncommon edition. With the contemporary
signature of William Hodder.

Rarer that the original Oxford edition of 1762: ESTC locates copes at
C, Lvu, Oa, Dt / MeB, NNC-L, MH-L(2 copies), CLL and CLU-L. It
is not on-line in either D or Dt. It collects four essays by Blackstone
which were published before he began work on the Commentaries (1764-
69). Material from the first three essays, which were originally published
in 1750, 1758 and 1759, were incorporated into the Commentaries. The
final essay, a critical edition of Magna Charta with an interpretive
essay, was originally published in 1759. The first critical edition of the
charter, it established Blackstone’s reputation. According to Eller, there
is no bibliographical record of a second edition, so she cites this as the
following edition.
