worn but very strong, a brown stain on the first few leaves, a
good, sound, copy.
First published, ‘For the Author’ during the same year. This printing for
John Nurse is represented in ESTC by six copies only (Bristol: Toulouse,
Torun, Columbia, Cornell, Witwatersrand), without mention of the
preliminary advert leaf: but COPAC locates copies at Edinburgh and
Bodleian which do. “This book, unlike many others with the same title,
is not an edition of Euclid’s Elements, but an independent treatise, and
the solutions of problems contained in it are in general exceedingly

medicine at Edinburgh, then a barrister, MP for Midhurst and a master
in lunacy, and the author of many legal textbooks, particularly
remembered for his novel “Ten Thousand a Year”.
