Dublin: Printed by P.
Byrne, No. 108, Grafton-Street.

“James Stewart / Feb. 1789” on title: a very good copy.
Possibly the first Dublin edition of this important work outlining
Priestley’s educational theories, promoting the study of history to a high
position, eclipsing the more traditional studies such as classical
languages. A very brief outline of the syllabus had been published as
early as 1765 in Warrington (only a few copies survive), but the entire
course did not appear until 1788, when it was published in a
Birmingham/London edition. There was another edition published at
Dublin in 1788 by Luke White.
