1895: Dublin Paving and Lighting Committee Manuscript Record
Late nineteenth century Dublin Paving and Lighting Committee carbon
copy manuscript ledger dating between 28 July 1892 and 20 January
1893 with record of correspondence from the DOLC to various people
and commercial businesses concerning issues regarding the conditions of
pavements, road repairs. street lighting, stree lamps, hoardings etc. in
and around Dublin. There are responses to complaints concerning a
leakage of water from Jameson’s Distillery into Back Lane to responses to
requests for improved lighting adjacent to certain thoroughfares in the
city. 1000 pp bound in original full calf record book.

1898-1901. Love letters from “Sis” to Mr Eades, Birr Co. Offaly
A correspondence over three years from “Sis”, a shop worker in Henry
Lewis, Newtownbarry, postmarked Limerick (and occasionally in Ferns or
Roscrea. Mainly in their original envelopes with stamps (1d lilac or ½d
orange or blue) with circular datestamp cancels. Some mention of the
Boer War and other events, mainly romantic content. Mostly addressed
to Mr Eames “c/o Messrs. Fayle & Co.” rather than a home address and
content implies a possibly illicit romance.

1899: Royal Irish Constabulary discharge certificate and gun licence
Royal Irish Constabulary parchment certificate of character issued to
40267 Sergeant Thomas Clarke who was born at Dromiskin Co. Louth,
joined the force on 6 May 1874 and was discharged on 30 November
1899 at Westport. Also with gun licence “issued in the pursuance of The
Peace Preservation (Ireland) Act...” to the same Thomas Clarke ex
Sergeant RIC at Mayo on 5 December 1899. (2 items)
