1822 Pattern Royal Artillery Officer’s sword by C Boyton & Son,
Clerkenwell. 35 inch blade marked number 1272 and with etched design
incorporating the Royal Artillery crest. Complete with leather scabbard.

Sergeant WIlliam Webb and Captain Bowen-Colthurst Royal Irish
Rifles
Items collected by 8794 Sergeant William Webb of the Royal Irish Rifles
including History of the Royal Irish Rifles by George Brenton Laurie,
Gale & Polden 1914 with contemporary inscription on front paste-down
“C Company 2nd Royal Irish Rifles Tidworth 1914” and later notation
“The above was written by Captain J. C. Bowen-Colthurst. Bowen-
Colthurst was infamous for his ordering summary executions including
that of Francis Sheehy Skeffington during the 1916 Rising. Also
discharge wallet and documents noting Webb’s service details including
his shrapnel wound suffered at Aisne in September 1914 which later
forced his discharge from the army, miniature 1914 Star Trio with bar,
group photograph of solders with Webb seated centrally, pc photograph
showing Webb post-war with service medals, related cabinet card
photograph showing a member of the Royal Irish Constabulary, ‘Echo of
the 1916 Rebellion pamphlet, Royal Ulster Rifles Association Report
1934, Royal Army Medical Corps manual 1904 and assorted newspaper
clippings mostly relating to the Royal Irish Rifles. (10 items)

WW1 Memorial Plaque and 1914-15 Star to Private M. Desmond
Royal Munster Fusiliers killed at V Beach Gallipoli
1914-15 Star officially named to 7004 Pte. M. Desmond R. Muns. Fus
and Memorial Plaque (considerably pitted) to Michael Desmond. Also
with badly damaged and erased British War Medal disc and WW2
mounted miniature group comprising of Defence Medal, War Medal and
1953 Coronation Medal. Both the latter awarded to members of the
same family. (4 items)
7004 Private Michael Desmond, 1st Battalion Royal Munster Fusiliers was
born in Millstreet, Cork and enlisted in Tralee, Kerry. He landed at V
Beach on the first day of the Gallipoli landings on 25 April 1915 and was
killed in action on the following day aged 31. He is buried in V Beach
Cemetery.
