Manna is an edible substance that, according to Abrahamic doctrine, God provided for the Israelites
during their travels in the desert according to the Bible and the Qur’an. During the period of 1950 to
1955 Colin Middleton was living in Ardglass, Co. Down and painting full-time under contract with
the Victor Waddington Galleries in Dublin. His subjects included rocky landscapes and seascapes as
well as Biblical quotations, the latter being the source of inspiration for this oil.
Manna
