Dunstaffnage is a thirteenth

century castle near Oban,

Argyllshire. Formerly a MacDougall

stronghold, it was seized by Robert

the Bruce in 1309 and entrusted to

the Campbell clan on behalf of the

Crown.The castle achieved some

notoriety in 1746 when Flora

MacDonald (Bonnie Prince

Charlie’s rescuer) was briefly

imprisoned there.
