embossed. Inscription to the flyleaf: “This book and all such books about

English tyrants should be carefully read by all Irish men. I fully believe that

Joe Stalin has read every one of them. If the brave Hitler had read such

books he would not be dead today - He would have won the war... Dan

Breen 26/5/45”. The portrait of Castlereagh on the frontispiece inscribed

“Bloody Castlereagh - Dan Breen”.

been able to see the boy Sunday, although I’ve tried. I will however

manage it during the day tomorrow & will try to see yourself Thurs. or Fri.

November 1920, Michael Collins, a letter offering a deal to Collins and

a letter from Collins to Seán McGarry with instructions.

10 Nov 1920: “Dear Sir, I have received a very definite and generous

proposal to put before you. Speed is of the utmost importance, so do try. I

can meet you anywhere in the country and absolutely guarantee

immunity. W. M. Crofton M.D.

11 Nov 1920: “Seán - Look at the enclosed sent to me from Crofton. I

don’t like asking you to be _____ round there again but would it not be as

well if you did go. Tell him you are the only one who knows of the letter.

See the letter which Walpole sent me. The damned little ass. If you see him

tonight, don’t come to the joint, send me a note in the morning. Michael.

1921 (26 October) Reception to the Irish Republican Delegation

souvenir programme autographed by Michael Collins.

8pp octavo programme for the reception by the Irish-Ireland Societies in

London, at the Albert Hall, to welcome the Dáil Éireann delegates to the

talks with the British Government which led to the Treaty of 6 December

1921. Includes photographs of Art O’Brien, Eamonn de Valera, Arthur

Griffith, Michael Collins, Richard Barton, Éamon Duggan and George

Gavan Duffy. Signed on the cover in pencil “Micheal O Coileain” .

Accompanied by a ticket for the event. A very rare and desirable memento

of this most important episode in Ireland’s history, signed by one of the

most influential Irish leaders of the 20th century.
