Henry Jackson Jr. (1912 -1988) was an American professional boxer and a world champion
(in more than one division) who fought under the name Henry Armstrong. He is regarded as
one of the greatest fighters of all time by many boxing critics and fellow professionals. He
was also known as “Homicide Hank”, hence the artist’s title. George Campbell was a boxing
fan and made several paintings of boxers both in Ireland and in Spain.
