1921 (May-June) Manuscript notes by Hugh

Kennedy KC regarding the arrest of his client by

the Black and Tans in Quin.

Also his client’s court martial in Limerick. Pp4 manu-

script.

Hugh Kennedy KC, Legal Advisor to Dail Eireann and

Attorney General to the Provisional Government, later

Chief Justice of the Irish Free State; Private collection.

Hugh Kennedy was later Attorney General to the Pro-

visional Government of Ireland and Chief Justice of the

Irish Free State. The notes are relating to a Claim against

the Crown on behalf of the arrested man, who was

seized by the Tans while cycling at Quin, imprisoned and

court martialled at Limerick.

Local Government concerning a dance at Por-

trane Asylum.

The one-page copy letter headed Dail Eireann to W. J.

Murphy, Chief Clerk, Richmond Asylum dealing with the

consequences of a dance held in Portrane Asylum.
