18th century, French Napoleonic-era flintlock rifle.
The 28in octagonal, rifled barrel with slight flare towards muzzle, on walnut stock. The lock stamped ‘M de St
Etienne’ and with a crowned ‘S’. Although lacking both patch-box and bayonet mount, which feature on the
British Baker rifle, this weapon is, likewise, modelled on German Jäeger rifles and would typically be carried by
skirmisher units. Total length
