IRISH & INTERNATIONAL ART · 1 OCTOBER 2018 AT 6PM 36 Paul Henry RHA (1876-1958) ACHILL oil on board signed lower right; bears title and price in pencil on Combridge label on reverse 13 by 16in. (33 by 40.6cm) There is a cottage with smoke coming from the chimney. Heavy impasto is used throughout which is unusual for Paul Henry, notably in the heavily-laden clouds. The setting seems impossible to identify but it is probably deep in the mountains. A Combridge label is on the reverse, as originally framed by them, and too the figure of ‘£65’ and the name ‘Achill’. Combridge were Henry’s agent. Achill is numbered 1351 in S. B.
