An oval convex medal, the obverse finely engraved with a mounted dragoon firing his pistol at a target, the reverse inscribed, ‘’Obtained - by - Superior Firing - in the - Cooleystown Cavalry - Novr. 4th 1803’’, mounted in ropework frame with hinged suspension loop, apparently silver but not hallmarked. 1oz troy (29g).
