193 Blaise Smith RHA (b. 1967) THE LANE, MAY 2019 oil on canvas signed on reverse 11.75 by 9.75in. (29.8 by 24.8cm) Blaise Smith R.H.A. is a painter of realist landscapes, portraits and still-lives. Earlier this summer his Landscape work was exhibited in Shaping Ireland in the National Gallery of Ireland - a survey show of Irish Landscape since the 1700s. This August 2019 he exhibited landscapes as part of the official Kilkenny Arts Festival Programme and in the same month his suite of paintings WEAPONS from 2008 was exhibited in the Tipperary Heritage Festival. Last year his portrait “My Parents”was runner up in the National Gallery’s Zurich Portrait Prize and the previous year he won the Irish Arts Review Portrait Prize with his much-celebrated group portrait “8 Scientists” for the Royal Irish Academy.
