100 47 Anthony Redford (fl. 1940-1943) BAR SCENE, DUBLIN,1939 and NUDE, 1939 (A PAIR) monochrome woodblock; (2) both signed lower left; both dated lower right 7 by 8.25in. (17.8 by 21cm) Provenance: Acquired by Ernie O’Malley, circa 1945; Thence by family descent Dimensions of Nude: 8 by 2.75in. (20.32 by 6.98cm.) Little is known of this artist, though it is thought he was loosely associated with The White Stag Group and was probably English, living in Ireland to avoid the war. He exhibited three pictures at the RHA, two in 1940 from 16 Heytesbury Lane, Dublin, including Dublin Tavern, and in 1943 from 25 Denzille Lane, a self portrait. €200-€400 (£180-£350 approx.)
