Orders by Colonel Kennard establishing the Court Martial, letterpress foolscap, Charge Sheet - “attempting to cause disaffection among the civilian population”, typescript, with annotations by Ashe’s barrister, Summary of Evidence by witnesses including RIC constables, some pages with annotations by Ashe’s defence counsel. Unique and important historical documents, which led to Thomas Ashe’s conviction, and ultimately, his death. A total of 7pp, including covering Memorandum by the Assistant Provost Marshal. Written in ink on an envelope - the prison authorities had restricted his access to paper - 11 days before he died, to a Doctor regarding his reappointment to Lusk and referring to Ashe’s court martial which he describes as “a rather tame affair”.
