152 History 276 1919 (5 August) love letter from David, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) to Freda DudleyWard. 4pp in pencil on HMS Renown, on which the prince travelled to a royal tour of Canada. With envelope postmarked Portsmouth 5 August 1919. ”God how I love love you darling darling sweetheart” and more in that vein. The prince had met Freda the year before during a Zeppelin raid. Accompanied by a book, Before Wallis - Edward VIIII’s Other Women by Rachel Trethewey, 2018, and related news cuttings. Attractively mounted. Condition: Very good.
