163 History THE ECLECTIC COLLECTOR · 25 & 26 JULY 2020 303 1940 Curragh Internment Camp Tokens. (4) Complete set of four 1940 Curragh Camp Tokens. Comprising of penny, sixpence, one shilling and two shillings. Used by Allied and Axis prisoners held at the Curragh internment camp during the Emergency (WorldWar II). Condition: Very fine. Ireland was neutral in WorldWar II and the period but a State of Emergency was declared by the Irish Government from 1939 to 1946. Allied and Axis service personnel who landed in the State - mainly air-crew - were interned for the duration of the Emergency in the Curragh Camp. These tokens were used by the internees to purchase items in the camp shop. Condition: Very fine. Attractively mounted on cloth and board, suitable for framing. General Vatutin signed military orders. One page, quarto printed, typed, handwritten and signed, framed with notes added on slips of paper identifying the signatories. Condition: Very good, Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov was a Soviet general and Marshal of the Soviet Union. He also served as Chief of the General Staff, Minister of Defence, and was a member of the Presidium of the Communist Party. During the SecondWorldWar, Zhukov oversaw some of the Red Army’s most decisive victories. Nikolai Fyodorovich Vatutin was a Soviet military commander during WorldWar II. Vatutin was responsible for many Red Army operations in Ukraine as commander of the Southwestern Front, and the Voronezh Front during the Battle of Kursk.
