58 History 79 Circa 1880 Home Rule Ireland One Dollar Certificate for payment to The Ant-Coercion Fund. Home Rule for Ireland’’ Bond Certificate: The excessively rare American bond certificate, $1 Anti-Coercion Fund - Home Rule for Ireland, made out for a “Jermia Lodge” of Fitchburg, Massachusets. Printed one side only, & engraved by W.J. Wood & Co., Boston with a fine portrait of Charles Stuart Parnell, it is signed in the plate by Thomas J. Conaty & John J. Donovan of the State of Massachusetts. The attractive border with shamrocks, and harp, and inscribed, ‘We are soon to witness the Final and Complete Emancipation of our Race. C.S. Parnell.’ A very rare example of Irish historical scripophily, the first at auction in the last 13 years. Condition: Very fine, slight soiling, small tear at top right.
