Very rare miniature, also miniatures for War of Independence and Distinguished Service Medal (bronze), all lacking ribbons and clasps. Collection of Glenn Thompson Condition: Fine to very fine. Miniature versions of the 1916 Medal are extremely scarce and were not automatically issued to those entitled to the full size version. Instead those who wished to have the miniature medal had to purchase a privately made version by one of a number of jewellers in Ireland who were officially given permission by the government to produce these medals. The same applied to the War of Independence medal but the DSM miniature was presented with the full medal.
