Provenance: Artist’s studio sale, Sotheby’s, Billingshurst, 18 January 1988; Bell Gallery, Belfast; Whence purchased by Dr McKee in 1989; Whyte’s, 6 December 2008, lot 30; Estate of the purchaser Born at Templemore, Co. Cork, the daughter of Col. Chester, Eileen Murray studied at Newlyn under Stanhope Forbes, whose influence can be seen in much of her work. After marrying Major F. S. J. Murray, she moved to India, returning to Ireland in 1920 to Mosstown House, Kenagh, Co. Longford.
