Provenance: Collection of the McCormack family; Collection of Liam Breen Estimate €150-€200 (approx £130-£170) Click here for more images and to bid on this lot 543 544 1921 and 1928 honours conferred by Pope Benedict XV and Pius XI on John McCormack 1928 Pope Pius XI certificate of his bestowing the title of Papal Count on John McCormack, and a similar by Pope Benedict XV in 1921 admitting him to The Order of Saint Gregory, with handstamped Papal seals, both signed by Cardinal Gasparri. Framed. 10 by 16in. (25.4 by 40.6cm) Condition: 1921 very good, 1928 mould to left, slightly affecting manuscript, some wrinkling and central fold mark Provenance: Collection of the McCormack family; Collection of Liam Breen Pietro Gasparri, GCTE (1852-1934) was a cardinal, diplomat and politician in the Roman Curia and the signatory of the Lateran Pacts. He served also as Cardinal Secretary of State under Popes Benedict XV and Pope Pius XI.
