80 Kevin Barry 177 1919 (27 December) letter from Kevin Barry to his friend John B. “Bapty”Maher. 2 pages, written from his family’s farm at Tombeagh, Carlow, to “A cara díl” Barry mentions another friend, Mick Byrne, and asks Maher to answer to “my town house” as “I’m nearly fed up here”, signed “Yours to a cinder, Kevin”. Also with this letter an envelope for a later letter, in Barry’s hand, addressed to Maher, postmarked Rathvilly 31 August 1920. Condition: A portion removed, apparently by Barry before he sent the letter. Provenance: John B. Maher; Thence by descent.
