Five pages consisting of two sworn statements from Lewis Fitzpatrick, a prisoner in Naas Jail, sworn before James Tandy. Lewis states that in February 1833, when he was visiting his uncle Pat Carey and his son Denis at their farm near the church in Old Leighlin, Carlow, he was contacted by Denis Miney and John Kinsella and brought to the public house of John McCabe. After getting a pistol they then brought Lewis in the direction of Leighlinbridge and met up with John McCabe, Loughy McCabe, Edward Carey, John Madden, Morgan Madden, Pat Cantwell, Martin Walsh, Greg Maher, John Brett and Pat Molloy. McCabe brought whiskey which they all drank. They then proceeded to raid the houses of Mr Watters, Mr Carney, Mr Kehoe and Mr Huges looking for arms. The second statement records how Lewis went with “a party of police” to the neighbourhood of Old Leighlin for the purpose of pointing out to the police the men whom he had sworn against.
