The letter, probably to the printers of Nationality, says that Griffith gave proofs of a forthcoming issue of the publication, to which Lord Decies appended a note ‘stating they had not been censored’. All in Griffith’s hand in black ink. 7.50 by 5.25in. (19.1 by 13.3cm) Provenance: Archive of Charles Murphy (1880-1958, TD 1923-1927), who was business manager of Nationality. Condition: Very good. The first by Laurence O’Neill, Lord Mayor of Dublin, ‘To The President of the United States of America’, on behalf of ‘representative Irishmen’ including John Dillon, Joseph Devlin, Tim Healy, Eamon de Valera, Arthur Griffith etc., 12 foolscap pages including cover; the second ‘The Case for Ireland Re-stated To To The President of the United States of America’, well illustrated including de Valera Griffith and other delegates to the 1918 Conference in Dublin, oblong folio, colour printed wrappers, 36 pages, with pullout print of the Declaration of American Independence.
