30 48 Circa 1840 Scottish pottery jug commemorating Daniel O’Connell. Bearing coloured two almost identical portraits of O’Connell with shamrock and harp surround and legend: DAN O’CONNELL. Attractive and scarce. 4 by 3 by 2.50in. (10.2 by 7.6 by 6.4cm) Condition: Couple of tiny chips, very good. John and Matthew Perston Bell opened the Glasgow Pottery, Bell’s Pottery in the early 1840s. The company became very successful, producing pottery for local and overseas markets.
