72 128 Countess Markievicz watercolour drawing of Wolfe Tone’s Grave at Bodenstown, Co. Kildare. Watercolour over pencil, signed initials lower right. Drawn on the blank front of a Reeves’ drawing- paper postcard. Inscribed on rear, probably in the artist’s hand, ‘Rough watercolour wash by Countess Markievicz of Wolfe Tone’s grave at the annual pilgrimage 1911’. 3.50 by 5.50in. (8.9 by 14cm) Condition: Fine, attractively framed and glazed. Provenance: Mealy’s, December 1999 lot 52, when laid into a book signed by the artist from the library at Lissadell, Co.
